Getting Older And Losing Face Volume? 2 Ways To Get It Back

Posted on

Losing face volume means the fat in your face is not distributed evenly as it once was. This happens over time as you get older. Once you start losing face volume, your face will start to sag. You will notice changes in your cheeks sagging, changes in your forehead, and changes in your mouth. Losing volume can cause your lips to appear much thinner. Fortunately, there are some things you can do to help with this.

Get Juvederm

Juvederm is an injectable filler that increases volume in the area it is injected. Hydraulic acid is commonly used as the filler. This is because hydraulic acid not only adds volume but will also cause your skin to become moisturized. This is important as a moisturizer will make your skin look healthier.

You can get the Juvederm injections in the doctor's office and it is generally a quick process. The doctor will first apply topic anesthesia to the area and then place ice packs on your skin. This will numb the area so you will not feel the injections. A very fine needle is used to insert the filler.

There are no side effects to Juvederm, and you can immediately drive home and resume your normal activities. You may see some results immediately, and then your volume will increase even more over time. You will have to go back again as your face will eventually start losing volume. This may be a few months to a year.

Get Fat Fillers

Another option you have is using fat fillers, which are also known as fat transfers. This procedure is much more invasive when compared to Juvederm. The doctor will use liposuction to remove fat from one area of your body and then transfer the fat to your face to increase volume. This is not permanent, but fat fillers do last a long time. The fat removed generally comes from the thighs or abdomen.

When the area is chosen where the fat is going to be removed, the doctor injects an anesthetic into the area to numb your skin. A small incision is then made to remove the fat. A cannula is inserted into the incision and then a syringe is used to extract the fat.

When the procedure is finished, you will be taken to a recovery room for a few hours to ensure you do not have a bad reaction to the procedure. After this time, you will be able to go home. Your doctor will give you instructions for home care.

You have other options to add volume to your face, such as a facelift, implants, and more.
