Questions You May Have When Considering Coolsculpting

Posted on

If you are looking for a way to get rid of some stubborn body fat, then Coolsculpting could be an option to consider. It's a nonsurgical procedure that involves using cold "waves" to freeze your body fat cells, causing them to die. Coolsculpting is becoming increasingly common, and a lot of people are getting great results with it. However, like any wise consumer, you're likely to have a couple of questions before you make your appointment. Here are some answers.

Does the treatment hurt?

It's really hard to imagine losing fat without some sort of pain. Liposuction and surgical procedures are known for being quite painful. Here's where Coolsculpting is different: it only causes mild discomfort. While the cold applicator is working its magic, you may feel some pinching and tingling. After the treatment, you'll probably have some minor aching, similar to what you'd experience after a hard workout. If you really need to, you can take an over-the-counter pain relieving medication to keep yourself comfortable, but most patients don't even find this necessary.

How long does it take to see results?

You won't see results immediately after Coolsculpting; you'll have to be patient. It will take your body a little while to process and get rid of all the damaged fat. Expect to see quite a lot of improvement after a month. Your results will continue to become more pronounced for about three months after treatment. If you don't lose as much fat as you would like, you can have a second Coolsculpting treatment. Some patients need multiple treatments to reach their desired shape.

Are there any side effects to worry about?

Other than the mild discomfort and aching mentioned above, there are no significant side effects to worry about. If you have Coolsculpting performed under your chin, you may have trouble swallowing for a couple of days as a result of the cramping, but this should fade on its own.

Is Coolsculpting safe for everyone?

It is safe for most patients, but there are a few groups of people who should not undergo this procedure. If you have allergic reactions to cold, Coolsculpting would not be right for you. It's also not safe for people with certain blood disorders. Talk to your doctor to ensure Coolsculpting is safe for you before you choose to undergo the procedure.

Coolsculpting is a non-invasive way to get rid of stubborn fat. If you have any additional concerns, bring them up with your medical practitioner.
