What Exactly Is A Full Service Spa?

Posted on

What services do they offer?

It's a difficult question to answer with precision because it's going to vary from spa to spa, but the idea is that it's the one place you can go to for all of your spa or salon needs. You'll want to look into your local full service day spa for more detail on the services offered, because it is on specificity where the spas differ from one another the most, but in general you can find any or all of the following: hair care, nail care, massages, skin treatment, waxing services, and so many more.

Why a full service salon?

While many of these services are often offered piecemeal through different spas and salons, a full service salon tries to bring them all together into one place. They offer a gentle, relaxing environment and many cohesive services that can be combined into a relaxed and pampering experience. Most, if not all, full service spas will offer packages that combine several of their services for a discount, which means you can also get a manicure and pedicure and a massage all in one spot, cheaper than you would be able to get them at two disparate places. (Most nail salons do both manicures and pedicures, though there's undoubtedly exceptions.)

They also allow for a sense of leisure. While they're absolutely working off a schedule, part of the experience you pay for is the luxury to not rush, so the timing isn't as tight as it might be in other spas or salons, where the intent is to get people in and out as fast as possible. There's nothing wrong for this per se, but haste can make mistakes, and it's frustrating to treat yourself to a manicure only to have someone rush the job, even if it goes perfectly. Most full service spas will, among other things, allow you to simply add more time to a service you have already purchased, so you know you'll have all the time you could possibly desire.

Many full service spas can accommodate groups, as well. Most offer couples massages and valentines specials and the like, but they are also willing to handle larger groups, like birthday celebrations. Even bridal parties- if you want all your bridesmaids to have the same hair, skin, and nail treatment before the wedding, full service spas can really help you keep on top of that.
